FIRST Lego League (FLL): 2019/2020 Season
The Proctor/Hermantown FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) Robotics Club is a Club compose of multiple FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics team. Project-based, hands-on FLL programs introduce students to programming and engineering an exclusive, creative and hopeful environment where students work collaboratively to solve a yearly robotics challenge.
This 2019-2020 season, FIRST RISE, powered by Star Wars: Force for Change is setting out to inspire citizens of the galaxy to work together, strengthening and protecting the force that binds us and creating a place where collaboration and collective wisdom can elevate new ideas and foster growth. Together we RISE! Throughout their experience, the teams will operate under FLL's signature set of core values of friendly sportsmanship, learning and community involvement.
Students between the ages of 9-14. Each FLL team needs 2 adult coaches. Coaches do not need to be an engineer or programmer. FLL provides numerous resources to help coaches. We also have seasoned coaches that can provide support and mentorship for each team.
Team coaches, parents and team members will detemine how often and when to meet.
May-July: 2019 Hermantown FLL Club Registration.
July: Field kits are ordered.
August 1: Official challenge is released.
September-December: 2-3 hour weekly team meetings, in-session scrimmages between teams. Teams may decide to meet more frequently during the week and on weekends. They may also participate in field trips for the research project.
December 7th, 2019: A 36 team Regional tournament will be held at Hermantown on Saturday, December 7th. Teams that perform well will have opportunities to move onto the sectional, state and world competitions.
Each team will be registered with the FIRST FLL league. All coaches and members will receive a T-shirt. The registration fee for each member of the competition will be $125. All competitive fees are due and non-refundable after September 15th.
