About Early Learning

Proctor Hermantown Early Learning proudly offers Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Parent/Child classes, as well as preschool classes for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds. Additionally, we host a range of special events throughout the year to engage families and foster strong early learning connections. All classes are taught by licensed early childhood teachers and parent educators, ensuring high-quality experiences for every child and family.

Our School Readiness program has earned the highest distinction—a 4-Star Rating from the State of Minnesota’s Parent Aware Rating System for Quality Early Childhood Programs. This rating recognizes that our preschool program meets Minnesota’s highest standards for teacher licensing, professional training, curriculum, and student assessment, reflecting our commitment to excellence in early education.

Nature RailHawks Preschool is also a continuum of services our Early Learning team offers for children preparing to transition to kindergarten the following year. Our licensed educators take the traditional preschool classroom outdoors. Students spend at least half the day outdoors in our school forest, engaging and learning through outdoor exploration. Research shows that open-ended play in nature allows children to use creativity, develop self-regulation skills, and enjoy various physical and mental health benefits. Our nature preschool programs focus on nature-related thematic units, including insects, trees, seasons, hibernation, and more, as students continue their growth in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning in preparation for a successful learner.

RailHawks Preschool

RailHawks Stepping Stones is a preschool program specifically designed for 3-year-olds (age as of September 1, 2025) who want to begin experiencing preschool. The guiding principles for RailHawks Stepping Stones are to develop social skills while making friends, gaining independence, and discovering new ideas through creative play. RailHawk Stepping Stones is a 4-Star Parent Aware-rated program. Our staff participates in continuous quality training and professional development to excel at using best practices that Support Successful Learners. Early Childhood Family Education

Your busy toddler is ready to discover safe and age-appropriate activities, including art, music, circle time, and sensory play. When you separate, your child will continue exploring peer relationships with the guidance of a licensed early childhood teacher. At the same time, parents gain knowledge and support from a licensed parent educator and other parents during discussion time. Topics will vary weekly and will be based on the participant's input. Intro to Nature RailHawks Preschool is a continuum of services offered by our Early Learning team for children preparing to transition to kindergarten the following year. Bright Beginnings - Hermantown

Welcome to ECFE! This is the perfect space to meet other parents with infants, sing and read to your baby, share community resources, and talk about parenting during this incredible beginning. A licensed parent educator will lead discussions that include infant and maternal care. The questions never end during this incredible time in your child's development. Topics will vary week to week.
