The National Weather Service in Duluth offers Skywarn Spotter Training to communities across the Northland each spring in an effort to improve community knowledge of severe weather threats and recruit weather spotters. Severe weather reports from spotters are vital to the meteorologists at the National Weather Service, and all are invited to attend! This class will cover the science of thunderstorms, such as different types of cloud formations and what they mean. The class also focuses on thunderstorm safety and how to find and understand information from the National Weather Service to know about severe weather before it happens. Attendees will learn the types of reports the National Weather Service needs, how to send in their reports, and why these reports are so important to meteorologists at the National Weather Service.
