AARP- Smart Driver

Engaging Senior Citizens / Senior Health, Fitness, & Safety -
2024-2025

Since 1979, AARP Driver Safety has helped nearly 20 million people stay safe, educated and confident on the road. AARP Smart Driver course participants will learn:

  • Proven safety strategies and valuable defensive driving skills
  • How to stay current with the latest driving technologies
  • The current rules of the road, specific to your community
  • How to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time

Many participants may qualify for a multi-year automobile insurance discount by completing the course (check with your auto insurance agent for details). There are no tests required to pass the course.

This 4 hour course is open to drivers of all ages and costs $25 for AARP members and $30 for non-members. The class will be taught by certified volunteer instructor Gretchen Zerba Lessard.

As of July 1, 2024, the State of Minnesota no longer requires the 8-hour course to be taken at the beginning. The 4-hour class is now sufficient!
