  • American Girl Doll - Summer Reading Program

Join Mrs. Roxy in her 3rd American Girl Doll Summer Reading Program! She is celebrating her 11th anniversary of teaching an American Girl Doll book club for 2nd- to 6th-grade students. Over the past 11 years, more than 50 girls have participated, and she was featured on WDIO's "The Lift" last spring! When she hosts book clubs, you will read American Girl Doll books, discuss them, predict what will happen next, and learn about the historical and contemporary issues girls face. You also make crafts related to the era of the doll, enjoy snacks, and—most importantly—use our imaginations, play, and make friends! She is excited to promote a love of reading and host another American Girl Doll giveaway! After registering and paying, you will receive a reading log via email. For every 20 minutes you read with your child or that your child reads independently, fill in a circle on the log. Each 100 minutes earns you a ticket for a prize drawing of an American Girl doll. If you reach 1,800 minutes (30 hours), your name will be entered 18 times! Prizes for completing 400, 800, 1,200, and 1,800 minutes include an American Girl doll, a water bottle, stickers, a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone, a girl doll book, and a t-shirt. You'll also receive a weekly email with challenges, recipes, and craft ideas. Please turn in your reading log by August 18; the winner will be drawn on August 19. An additional book club will start this fall, pending interest!
