  • Rawket Science Club: Bay View

    The Science Club is the place for students who are interested in science to learn about a variety of science topic ranging from chemistry to physics to the environment. We discuss how to use this conceptual basis for applications in the real world. Each session will focus on a different topic. This club aims to be fun, engaging, and hands-on for all!
  • Hungry for Kindergarten-Pike Lake Elementary (Summer 2024)

    This course is for students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2024. Follow "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle as he learns what Kindergarten is all about. This class is open to students entering kindergarten this fall (2024). Students will participate in a classroom enriched by an abundance of books, words, letters, numbers and other instructional aids. Various learning centers will allow students to explore and interact socially. In addition to academic skills, students will work on projects promoting fine motor skills, handwriting, and independence. Finally, music, movement and outdoor experiences will be a part of each day ensuring wellness and group play. All classes will be held at the Pike Lake Elementary School. Additional information regarding drop off and pick up procedures will be sent out at a later date to registered families.
  • Jumpstart to First Grade-Pike Lake Elementary (Summer 2024)

    This course is for students entering first grade in the fall of 2024. Students will participate in exciting classroom experiences to help them review and prepare for the first grade. Writing, reading, phonics, and math centers and mini lessons will be provided daily. Small groups will also be used to help your child work on skills at their level as they review what was taught in Kindergarten. A short recess will be provided as an activity break each day. Please send a water bottle with your child.
  • Youth Driver Education - Fall Hermantown 2024

    Youth Driver Education courses are designed to teach your student how to become a responsible and low risk driver. All of our courses are taught by Minnesota Department of Education licensed teachers. At the end of the program, your student will have gained the knowledge to successfully pass the written permit test, confidently drive on the road, and be prepared for his/her driver license exam. Each student will participate in 33 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel with our licensed staff. Please be sure to review all the necessary information regarding Youth Driver Education prior to registering here. Questions: contact Ines Chandler, Driver's Education Coordinator - ichandler@isd700.org Note: If you are on the waiting list, you will ONLY be contacted if you become eligible for a spot in this class. If your child does not meet the minimum age requirement, you can email ichandler@isd700.org to be put on an underage waitlist. Please include your name, student's name, email address, students' birthdate and which class you want to be on the list for. If this class does not fill, we will open it up to 14 years and older.
  • FTC Robotics Team-Hermantown Middle School

    FIRST® Tech Challenge - Programming Pythons sign-up for the 2024-2025 season. This program is offered for students in grades 7-12. Our team will design, build, program, and compete against other teams from around Minnesota. We will also focus on business and volunteer work in the robotics community and the Hermantown/Duluth community. The team will meet in the middle school lecture hall on Sunday and Tuesday evenings starting Sunday, September 8th, and running through January 2025. The team will compete in two Qualifier events in December/January (location TBD). If the team advances to the State Championship, more dates will be added. There may be some small group meetings after school that will be arranged with the students in each small group. Amelia Magnuson is the lead contact. Parent coaches will assist in a variety of capacities. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Amelia!
  • Youth Kayaking Adventures

    A guided kayaking adventure awaits! Hermantown Elementary teachers, Joe Borak & Chris Pederson, are back and they are excited to share their passion for the outdoors and our local waterways with you. Beginner kayaking will cover safety, paddling techniques, and trip planning. Be prepared to spend your morning on Pike Lake, Caribou Lake or Island Lake. No Prior experience needed! Come learn and have fun! All Kayaks and life jackets are provided by Community Ed, but it is helpful if you bring your own life jacket to ensure a proper fit. Transportation will be available to and from Hermantown Elementary. The morning session will take place from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm. The afternoon session will take place from 11:45 pm to 3:15 pm.
  • Youth Archery with Joe Borak

    Learn the sport of archery in a safe and fun environment. Kids will learn the history of archery and how to successfully shoot a bow and arrow. We will go over the 11 fundamentals of the sport in order to be successful archers as well as safe.

    Flexibility, strength, coordination, determination and discipline for all body types and genders! The classes are focused on highlighting every students abilities and strengths through careful planning to lead to confidence building that can last a lifetime. We have 2 sessions available: Session 1: 8+ years old 5:45 - 6:45 PM Session 2: Competitive Team 6:30 - 7:45 PM Please let your child wear tight fitting cloth, gymnastic shoes (or barefoot) and hair up! Each Child has to bring a one time $20 cash payment for the instructor, to get registered in the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) for insurance purposes. (First Visit only)
