In return, students will help you in your yard, shovel snow, provide tech support for your cell phone or computer, or assist with other daily tasks to earn their Civic Engagement Credits necessary for graduation.   • Behind the Wheel Package - Youth Driver Education

    Students who completed classroom instruction with another organization may participate in 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with our licensed staff. Participants must register for this course, prior to driving with one of our licensed staff. Instructors will be assigned based on availability.   • Fully Online - Youth Driver Education - November 2025

    Proctor Hermantown Community Education is proud to partner with A+ Driving School for fully online classes. Youth Driver Education courses are designed to teach your student how to become a responsible and low risk driver. At the end of the program, your student will have gained the knowledge to successfully pass the written permit test, confidently drive on the road, and be prepared for his/her driver license exam. Each student will participate in 30 hours of online self-paced learning and six hours of behind-the-wheel with our licensed staff. There will be an additional service fee of $20 once you sign into your online account. Please be sure to review all the necessary information regarding Youth Driver Education prior to registering here.   • Run Club

    It doesn’t matter whether your kid wants to be the next Grandma’s Marathon champion or just getting started. Our Young Athletes Foundation Running Club is the perfect place for them. Our club meets weekly and provides a fun, engaging training program that culminates with our Minnesota Mile on Friday, September 5th. No experience is necessary, everyone is welcome from avid runners to first-timers! Entry to the 2025 Minnesota Mile is included with Running Club sign-up.
  • Hermantown Volleyball Camp - Grades 7 - 9

    This camp is designed to work on enhancing your volleyball skills with high school players and coaches working alongside you! Our camp is centered around skill development using different techniques through the first three days learning how to pass, set, hit, serve and general rotation followed by our two day round-robin tournament including dress-up days and treats on Friday. All participants receive a t-shirt with registration.

    This course is for students entering Third Grade in the fall of 2025. Students will participate in exciting classroom experiences to help them review and prepare for the third grade. Writing, reading, phonics, and math centers and mini-lessons will be provided daily. Small groups will also be used to help your child work on skills at their level as they review what taught in Second Grade. A short recess will be provided as an activity break each day. Please send a water bottle with your child. All classes will be held at the Hermantown Elementary School. On the first morning of classes (Monday, July 21st), please bring your child to the northeast entry by the big gym (Door #4). We will direct you to the program classroom. It is your responsibility to arrange for transportation to and from the school. Please see that your child is picked up promptly as there are no aides to supervise children after classes.

    This course is for students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2025. Follow "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle as he learns what Kindergarten is all about. This class is open to students entering kindergarten this fall. Students will participate in a classroom enriched by an abundance of books, words, letters, numbers and other instructional aids. Various learning centers will allow students to explore and interact socially. In addition to academic skills, students will work on projects promoting fine motor skills, handwriting, and independence. Finally, snack, music, movement and outdoor experiences will be a part of each day ensuring wellness and group play. All classes will be held at the Hermantown Elementary School. On the first morning of classes (Monday, July 21st) please bring your child to the northeast entry by the big gym (Door #4). We will direct you to the kindergarten classroom. It is your responsibility to arrange for transportation to and from the school. Please see that your child is picked up promptly as there are no aides to supervise children after classes.

    Zoo brought to you! The Zoomobile at Lake Superior Zoo is an exciting, interactive program designed for kids in grades K-5! Join us for a fun-filled adventure as we bring live animals right to you. Kids will get to see and sometimes touch furry, scaly, and feathered friends while learning about the amazing ways animals adapt to their environments. With engaging activities and hands-on experiences, the Zoomobile encourages curiosity and exploration, helping young learners discover the importance of wildlife and conservation in a lively, age-appropriate way.   • Intro into Pickleball - Youth

    Join us for an introduction to the exciting sport of pickleball! In this class, young players will learn the basic rules, techniques, and strategies in a friendly environment. Our experienced instructors will teach skills such as serving, volleying, and court positioning through fun drills and games that promote teamwork and hand-eye coordination. Whether your child is a beginner or has some experience, this class encourages a love for the game. All equipment will be provided—just come ready to play and have fun!

  • The Unleashed Lens: Photography & Drone Camp

    The engaging summer camp is divided into two segments: the first half of the day will focus on hands-on photography learning, and the second half will teach students how to fly a drone. Throughout this fun and educational week, students will explore photography, whether they are taking pictures with a smartphone or using a professional camera. Here’s a sneak peek at what they will master: 1. **Camera Confidence**: Learn how to use your camera settings like a pro. By understanding shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, you’ll no longer be intimidated by your camera! 2. **Creative Composition**: Discover how to frame shots and use light, color, and angles to make your photos stand out. 3. **Action Shots & Portraits**: Perfect the art of capturing fast-moving moments and showcasing someone's best side. 4. **Using Canva**: Explore Canva as the new alternative to Photoshop and participate in exciting photo challenges. Compete in creative scavenger hunts and themed photography challenges. By the end of the week, students will have personalized portfolio images and the confidence to continue creating long after camp is over. In the second half of the camp, students will learn how to fly a drone. Each day, they will practice controlling and navigating drones expertly. Whether they are newcomers or have some flying experience, all students will improve their skills. Daily sessions will include exciting drone challenges such as obstacle courses, precision landings, and team relay races. The camp will conclude with a friendly drone-flying competition, allowing students to showcase their new skills to their families. Additional $45 supply fee* (which should be handed to the instructor on the first day of camp) *All students will use the SAME beginner model drone during the instruction, which has limited height capabilities, making it suitable for classroom learning. After the camp ends, you may keep the drone. (Previous participants can bring their previously purchased drone)
  • Summer Tumbling - Proctor

    Flexibility, strength, coordination, determination and discipline for all body types and genders! The classes are focused on highlighting every students abilities and strengths through careful planning to lead to confidence building that can last a lifetime. We have three sessions available: Session 1: Hot Shots (Ages 3 - 6, Invite only) 5:30 - 6:15 PM Session 2: Beginners (Ages 5 - 7) 6:15 - 7:00 PM Session 3: Advanced Beginners (All Ages) 7:00 - 7:45 PM Please let your child wear tight-fitting clothes, gymnastic shoes (or barefoot), and hair up! Each Child has to bring a one-time $20 cash payment for the instructor to get registered in the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) for insurance purposes. (First Visit only)
  • FIRST Lego League (FLL): 2025/2026 Season

    HERMANTOWN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE (FLLC): 2025–2026 SEASON What is FLL Challenge? Friendly competition is at the heart of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLLC), where teams of students ages 9–14 (grades 4–9) explore real-world problems through research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robots, teams design, build, and program a robot to complete missions in a themed Robot Game. In addition to the Robot Game, each team develops an Innovative Project — a creative solution to a real-world problem aligned with the season's theme. Visit the FIRST LEGO League website to learn more. TEAM LOGISTICS Teams consist of 6 or more students. Visit our site! Use the QR below! 2 volunteer parent coaches are required per team (Coaches must attend all practices and competitions.) Weekly meetings (schedule determined by each team’s coach) Scrimmages and weekend competitions vary by team interest SEASON TIMELINE – 2025–2026 July/August – Kits are ordered, and coaches begin communicating with families. Teams can start practicing. August 31 – Official release of the 2025–2026 FLL Challenge: UNEARTHED! July 31 – Registration deadline. All fees are due at the time of registration. August–November – Weekly team meetings (frequency set by coaches); field trips or guest speakers may enhance research December 6 – Regional Tournament at Hermantown (Top teams will advance to Sectionals, State, and even Worlds!) COST $175 per student (Covers tournament registration and team shirts) INTERESTED IN COACHING? Hermantown LEGO League provides guidance, support, and resources to help parent volunteers run a team. We can only form teams with enough coaches, so please consider volunteering! Coaching is a fun and rewarding way to support students as they learn to collaborate, build, and problem-solve. No robotics or programming experience is required. Coaches act as facilitators — helping students explore the challenge, build the robot, conduct research, and practice FIRST Core Values. I’d like to have an all-girls Hermantown robotics team this season! I plan to host a coaching workshop in August to help all coaches get started. READY TO JOIN A TEAM?
