  • Stepping Stones Craft

    Each child will create 2 of their personalized stepping stones for the garden or backyard! We will provide all the materials and guide them through the process. It's a great way to encourage their creativity and imagination.
  • Indigo Fabric Dyeing

    Come learn the traditional art of dyeing fabrics using natural indigo dye. Participants will learn about the history and cultural significance of indigo dyeing, as well as the different techniques used to create intricate patterns and designs. Students will have the opportunity to experiment and create their own unique indigo dyed T-shirts, bags, and more. Participants may also bring extra white cotton items to dye if time allows. Participants will be notified when their dyed projects are dried and ready for pick up via email.
  • Reading Pals - Summer 2024 (Grades K-3)

    Reading Pals is an incredible free program supported by the Northland Foundation that aims to connect schools and communities while developing youth literacy. This program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to partner with volunteers who are passionate about reading and mentorship. Each session is carefully crafted to include 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of a small art craft/activity.   • GEMS (Girls Engaging in Mathematics & Science)

    Girls in grades 3-5 mare invited to explore the world of coding. Over the course of these sessions, students will explore Block Coding through the use of Sphero Robots. Girls will expand their knowledge of Block Coding by navigating a Sphero Robot through a series of activities and games, like target practice, bowling, mazes, and more! An additional $10 material fee to the instructor is due at the start of class on the 17th

  • Leveling up your Creativity: Video Game Art Camp

    Immerse your child in the captivating world of video games in this themed art camp! Join us for an unforgettable experience inspired by popular games of Super Mario, Minecraft, and Pokemon! Projects include their own Mario/Minecraft/Pokemon paper mache creations, wooden cube pixel sculptures, and more! Students will challenge their imagination and allow themselves to express their love for gaming in a fun artistic way!
  • Hermantown Speed & Strength Training (Summer 2024)

    Led by coach Greg Aker, Hermantown Speed and Strength Training will be taking place at Hermantown High School from Monday, July 1st through Friday, August 2nd. This training program is for students in grades 9-12 only. There is no class on July 4th. Below is additional information for interested participants. If you have additional questions, please contact Greg Aker at gaker@isd700.org. To be considered a registered participant, payment of $85 must be made by the deadline. Payments must be submitted online through Community Ed website (ph.ce.eleyo.com) Schedule: Monday through Friday starting July 1st and ending August 2nd (5 weeks) Three A.M. sessions offered: Session 1: 8:00-9:15 Session 2: 9:15-10:30 Session 3: 10:30-11:45 Adjustments to the schedule will be made on an as needed basis. Coach Aker will work around morning practice times for sports. While registration requires you to sign up for a specific time, any session is an option for participants on any given day. However, It is recommended to attend the same session as much as possible.
  • Rails Volleyball Summer Camp-Summer 2024

    Rails Volleyball Summer Camp Get prepared for the 2024 volleyball season! We will focus on conditioning, skill development, teamwork, and having fun. Please bring a water bottle, and (inside only) volleyball shoes. Knee pads are encouraged but not required. Camps run 9-11am, Monday-Thursday, July 8-July 31 in the Field House T-shirt included with registration. Deadline for t-shirt is 6/7. Please indicate your size.
  • Rally Tennis Jamboree | Grades 2-6

    Superbouce, Jail, 4-square, Champion of the Court, Slime, and many more! Every day a new tennis game will be introduced. This camp will be hosted by Hermantown Hawk Varsity players under the direction of Head Coach Jessica Worden Half camp any three dates, full camp is all six dates.
  • Run Club

    It doesn’t matter whether your kid wants to be the next Grandma’s Marathon champion or just getting started. Our Young Athletes Foundation Running Club is the perfect place for them. Our club meets weekly and provides a fun, engaging training program that culminates with our Minnesota Mile on Friday, September 8th. No experience is necessary, everyone is welcome from avid runners to first-timers! Entry to the 2023 Minnesota Mile is included with Running Club sign-up.
  • Hungry for Kindergarten at HES (Summer 2024)

    This course is for students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2024. Follow "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle as he learns what Kindergarten is all about. This class is open to students entering kindergarten this fall. Students will participate in a classroom enriched by an abundance of books, words, letters, numbers and other instructional aids. Various learning centers will allow students to explore and interact socially. In addition to academic skills, students will work on projects promoting fine motor skills, handwriting, and independence. Finally, snack, music, movement and outdoor experiences will be a part of each day ensuring wellness and group play. All classes will be held at the Hermantown Elementary School. On the first morning of classes (Monday, July 22th) please bring your child to the northeast entry by the big gym (Door #4). We will direct you to the kindergarten classroom. It is your responsibility to arrange for transportation to and from the school. Please see that your child is picked up promptly as there are no aides to supervise children after classes.

Writing, reading, phonics, and math centers and mini-lessons will be provided daily. Small groups will also be used to help your child work on skills at their level as they review what taught in Kindergarten. A short recess will be provided as an activity break each day. Please send a water bottle with your child. All classes will be held at the Hermantown Elementary School.   • Plaster Hand Workshop

    Participants will be introduced to mold-making and its long global history. Students will learn how to create a 3-D replica of their own hand using alginate and plaster. From preparing their alginate molds to pouring in plaster and removal, students will gain a deep understanding of this medium.

  • FIRST Lego League (FLL): 2024/2025 Season

    HERMANTOWN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL): 2024/2025 SEASON: Friendly competition is at the heart of Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-14 engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering – building and programming a LEGO® Education SPIKE Prime robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of the Challenge, teams also design an innovative solution to a real-world problem relevant to the theme. To learn more about the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge, visit their website. The Coaches and team members determine team meeting schedules and level of participation. TEAM LOGISTICS 6 or more students per team (no more than 6 is recommended) 2 parent volunteer coaches per team (coaches must attend practices and competitions) The team attend weekly meetings Attend scrimmages and competitions on weekends based on the team's interest 2024-2025 FIRST LEGO Season Reveal July/August: Kits are ordered and coaches send information to their team members about practice schedules. August 31st: FIRST FLL Challenge is released and the season officially starts! The cost to participate is $175 per student. This will cover costs for tournament registration and team shirts Who: Students ages 9-14 (4th-9th grade) Hermantown Lego League provides guidance, administrative support, and the resources to run an FLL team. Please consider coaching a team. I can only run teams if I have volunteer coaches. Coaching a FIRST LEGO League team is a rewarding experience! As an FLL coach, you can empower students with a sense of accomplishment that comes from knowing they have complete ownership of the solution they create. Team members are responsible for all research, documentation, programming, and building. The coach acts as a facilitator to guide the children and help build a robot, research, and core values. Knowledge about robotics or programming is not required to be a coach. Who: Students ages 9-14 (4th-9th grade) July 31st is the registration deadline for the 2024 season. Volunteer coaches are needed, I plan to run a coaches mentoring/workshop for coaches and kids this summer. Challenge Season: August -November Weekly team meetings, coaches decide how often to meet during the week and weekends. Teams may also participate in field trips for the research project or invite guest speakers. December: Regional tournament is on a Saturday and is held at Hermantown. Teams that perform well advance to sectional, state, and world competitions. We have had Hermantown teams perform at the state level for the past 4 years. If you have questions contact me.     The Rawket Science Club is the place for students who are interested in science to learn about a variety of science topic ranging from chemistry to physics to the environment. We discuss how to use this conceptual basis for applications in the real world. Each session will focus on a different topic. This club aims to be fun, engaging, and hands-on for all!
