Focus on a more efficient way of living with specifically designed strength exercises while increasing your endurance with light cardio. AARP Smart Driver course participants will learn: Proven safety strategies and valuable defensive driving skills How to stay current with the latest driving technologies The current rules of the road, specific to your community How to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time Many participants may qualify for a multi-year automobile insurance discount by completing the course (check with your auto insurance agent for details). There are no tests required to pass the course. This 4 hour course is open to drivers of all ages and costs $25 for AARP members and $30 for non-members. The class will be taught by certified volunteer instructor Gretchen Zerba Lessard. As of July 1, 2024, the State of Minnesota no longer requires the 8-hour course to be taken at the beginning. Thank you so much for registering for the emergency child care offered at Proctor and Hermantown school districts for emergency personnel/first responders and medical professionals. This registration will secure your spot in the program from Monday, March 30th through Thursday, June 4th. This may be extended upon further direction from Governor Walz. There will be a $3.65 per hour fee for our morning & afternoon care at each site. Morning care runs from 6:30 am to the regular school day start time. Afternoon care runs from the end of the regular school day through 5:30 pm. The school day portion of the day is free. Further dates may be added as directed by the state of Minnesota. You will not need to register again if distance-learning in implemented for a longer term basis. Families will need to present a letter from their employer to verify that they are emergency personnel/first responders and medical professionals. This will be due on their first day of using the program. Our operating hours will be from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. Students will receive an AM & PM snack and served your regular school day meals. Students will also participate in a variety of activities such as gym/outside time, arts & crafts, group games and STEM activities. PLEASE NOTE: If you need transportation, you must notify program staff of your transportation needs and address at least 48 hours in advance of the start of child care. This is to ensure that our transportation coordinators have enough time to update their pick up and drop off lists. Bay View Kids' Zone 2025/2026Kids' Zone ProctorKIDS' ZONE INFORMATION: Kids' Zone will be offered before and after school for currently registered families on their in-person learning days. Kids' Zone allows kids to be kids. We offer ample time to play and have fun in a safe and supervised environment. We offer a wide variety of gym games, crafts, toys, activities as well as free time. Our activities enrich and engage children in a social environment that encourages cooperative play. Staff strives to maintain a 1:12 ratio that is below the State of Minnesota’s rate of 1:15. In the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training component, learn how to use the AED machines now available in most public buildings. First Aid is an optional add on to this course and will take place on the last date. If you only wish to be certified in CPR & AED, you will need to attend the first two dates.
